In September, five manufacturers of polypropylene (PP) intend to stop their capacities at once for scheduled preventive repairs. The longest downtime is planned at Stavrolen, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Review.

The upcoming September for the Russian software market will be atypical, five manufacturers plan to stop their capacities at once. At the same time, in most cases, planned downtime will be short, the only exception is Stavrolen, who intends to stop production for more than 40 days.

So, in the early days of the calendar autumn, their capacities for carrying out repair work will be stopped by Stavrolen (from September 1) and Tomskneftekhim (from September 5 for two weeks), the annual production capacities of these manufacturers’ PPs are 120 thousand tons and 140 thousand tons respectively.

Ufaorgsintez intends to stop the production of PP for routine maintenance from September 12, downtime is planned for 12 days. The annual production capacity is 120 thousand tons.

In the second half of September, Polyoma (for two weeks) and Nizhnekamskneftekhim (one week) production shutdowns are expected, the annual capacity of which is 230 thousand tons and 210 thousand tons, respectively. Manufacturers have not yet announced the exact dates of the stops.

It is worth noting that currently in Russia there are seven manufacturers of polypropylene, the total annual capacity of which is 1.45 million tons. By the end of this year, it is expected to launch a new site with a capacity of 500 thousand tons per year on the basis of ZapSibNeftekhim.
