The Office proposes the implementation of energy waste disposal. For the possibility of such disposal, it is necessary to make it economically viable and introduce separate collection.

The introduction of energy waste management would enable Ukraine to annually replace 1 billion cubic meters. m of gas by generating electric and thermal energy from waste, while almost all garbage is now disposed of in landfills.
This was announced at a press conference by the head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Sergey Savchuk. “Today, Ukraine generates 10 million tons of waste per year.

If we build plants such as Denmark, Poland, they are called waste-to-energy plants – translated as energy waste disposal, then we can replace up to 1 billion cubic meters in the production of heat and electricity. m of gas annually, ”he said. He added that now in Ukraine 93% of municipal solid waste is disposed of in landfills, and in Sweden, for example, only 1% is disposed of in landfills. According to Savchuk, for this it is necessary to make waste disposal economically viable. Create guarantees and incentives, enforce legislative technological requirements for such processing enterprises and establish clear rules for tariff setting for energy utilization services. It is also necessary to establish coordination systems for waste management at the municipal level. “We must implement the legislative norms, namely a separate fee. Further, part of the garbage should be sent to such a plant. Further, the implementation of secondary raw materials and the disposal of residues.

If we introduce this model, we will also have such plants, ”he said. As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2017, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted the National Strategy for Waste Management, which defines the policy for managing all types of waste until 2030. The strategy envisages reducing the level of waste disposal from 95% to 30% and minimizing the total amount of waste to be disposed of from 50% to 35%. When handling household waste, it is proposed to introduce a separate collection, to determine the optimal areas for the placement of regional garbage transfer stations, sorting lines, garbage processing plants and landfills, which requires the construction of such a network for local government money. The national plan provides for 300 polygons, while in Ukraine there are now more than six thousand.
