Stavrolen, a large producer of polyolefins in the Russian Federation, unscheduledly stopped the production of low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) for short-term repairs, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Review.
According to a company representative, Stavrolen has stopped production of HDPE and PP since December 11, due to the need for technical work. Downtime of capacities will be short and will take about 5 days.
At the same time, it is worth noting that technical work in the production of ethylene will not affect the supply of polyethylene and polypropylene to consumers. The company has sufficient reserves to cover the needs of customers during downtime.
Stavrolen (part of Lukoil’s structure), the annual production capacity of PP and HDPE is 120 thousand tons and 300 thousand tons, respectively. For ten months of this year, the production of propylene and low-pressure polyethylene exceeded 86.7 thousand tons and 221.3 thousand tons, respectively.
