With the support of the European Union, an automated system of environmental radiation monitoring was installed at special plants of the State Corporation “Ukrainian State Association” Radon “, reports UNN with reference to the press service of the State Agency for Management of the Exclusion Zone.

The equipment was installed at 5 radioactive waste storage facilities located on the territory of special plants in Kiev, Kharkov, Dnieper, Lviv and Odessa.

According to Igor Buksanchuk, Director General of the Radon Association State Enterprise, the automated system will allow monitoring and documenting the radiation environment parameters, will help identify radiation hazards and quickly respond to them.

The system consists of five subsystems of environmental radiation monitoring, measures radiation levels and transfers the results to the Radon head office in Kiev.

The creation of a radiation monitoring system is the focus of cooperation between the EU and Ukraine in the field of nuclear safety.
