Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical, the subsidiary of Sinopec, one of the world’s largest energy and chemical companies, plans to stop production at a polypropylene (PP) production plant in Shanghai, China, at the end of April this year, to conduct preventive measures, ICIS reported.
It is expected that the repair work at this enterprise with a capacity of 200 thousand tons of PP per year will continue for about 15 days.
As reported by the Market Report company, Sinopec Shanghai plans on May 26 to resume production at the plant for the production of high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) in Shanghai after routine prevention. Maintenance at this enterprise, consisting of two lines with a total capacity of 90 thousand tons of PE per year (45 thousand tons each), began on April 5.
Also, as noted earlier, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical on April 12 stopped production at a low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE) plant in Shanghai for maintenance. Repair work at the enterprise, consisting of two lines for the production of HDPE with a capacity of 100 and 150 thousand tons per year, will take about 40-50 days.
According to the ICIS-MRC Price Review, on the Russian market, Stavrolen resumed production of PP on the 10th of April after a planned stop for short-term prophylaxis. Simple capacity started on April 1st. As some customers of the enterprise have informed, shipment of PP has been resumed already since April 11th. Annual production capacity is 120 thousand tons.
