thThe German company BASF, the world’s leading manufacturer of petrochemical products, currently in negotiations for the construction of a new petrochemical complex in southern Iran, said the managing director of National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marzieh Shahdaye, quoted by the agency Regnum with reference to the Iranian English-language channel PressTV.

The amount of possible investment is estimated at USD4 billion.

In particular, BASF can get a share of 60% in special industrial zone, which is located petrochemicals.

Director of the Department of NPC Hamid Reza Rostami said that the German company will receive a guaranteed market for Iran, and Iran – the transfer of technology.

“Of BASF plans to make direct investments in Iran, to invest, to share management skills, in return for a guaranteed market for their products, which we welcome,” – said R.Rostami.

Previously, it was noted that in addition to the BASF German Linde Group and Mitsui Chemicals, Japan’s largest petrochemical company, plans to invest in various petrochemical projects of Iran, which is at the beginning of February this year, said Marzieh Shahdaye. As reported by the MRC, Iran plans to increase the production of petrochemical products to 61 million tonne by 2018. So, currently being implemented in the country 67 petrochemical projects to be commissioned in the beginning of 2018.

At the same time in Iran are 53 petrochemical complex with a total production capacity of 59 million tons per year, which include the production of a number of polymers, chemicals, aromatics and LPG.
