Chemical, BASF, the project Sport Infinity, creates polymers for recycling athletic shoes, writes Plastinfo.ru.

German chemical company BASF is participating in the project Sport Infinity, which aims to create composite materials suitable for rapid production of sporting goods. Including we are talking about shoes for football players – boots.

It is expected that the result of the research will be able to find a way to produce sports shoes for one-stage technology, and after the expiry date of the product can be used again. Old shoes will grind, add the starting material and the reinforcing fiber and obtained from raw materials to produce new boots.

This requires a high level of product quality by repeated processing cycles.

“Our focus on new polymers with a broad range of mechanical properties. We intend to create suitable for recycling product which can be adapted for various applications and related technologies “, – says Jürgen Weiser, chief technology officer in the division of special BASF materials.

Project Sport Infinity there since June 2015. Participation in it take 10 partners: Adidas AG, BASF, Kiska GmbH, Fill Gesellschaft m.b.H., University. Friedrich-Alexander (Erlangen-Nuremberg), Oechsler ag, Technical Textile Centre of the University of Leeds, CETI Association (European Center for Innovative Textiles), Hypercliq E.E. and SportsMethod Ltd.
