According to the results of January – November of this year, the total volume of polypropylene imports to the Ukrainian market grew by 3% in comparison with the same period in 2016 and amounted to about 112.4 thousand tons, according to the DataScope.
In November, the volume of imports of polypropylene to Ukraine increased to 11.9 thousand tons against 11.1 thousand tons a month earlier, the main increase in supplies fell on the homopolymer of propylene (PP homo). In general, for January-November of this year, the total volume of imports of propylene polymers reached the level of 112.4 thousand tons against 108.6 thousand tons a year earlier. Demand for all types of propylene polymers increased, with the largest increase in the stat-copolymers of propylene (PP-Random).
The structure of supplies by types of polypropylene during the period under review is as follows.
Last month, external supplies of propylene homopolymers to the Ukrainian market rose to 9.2 thousand tons against 8.6 thousand tons in October. The main increase in shipments came from PP-homo raffia from Saudi Arabia. For eleven months, the total supply of PP homo reached 85.8 thousand tons, which is 3% more than last year.
In November, the external supplies of propylene block copolymers (PP blocks) amounted to about 1.1 thousand tons, which actually corresponds to the indicator a month earlier. On the part of local companies, there remained a good demand for casting and pipe copolymers of propylene. During the period under review, about 11.9 thousand tons of block copolymers of propylene were imported, while a year ago this figure was slightly more than 11.2 thousand tons. The greatest increase in demand was shown by local pipe producers.
Last month, the imports of propylene stat copolymers rose to 1.5 thousand tons against 1.1 thousand tons in October, the volume of purchases of pipe and molded products manufacturers increased. In January-November, the total imports of PP-Rand reached a level of 12.8 thousand tons, while a year earlier this figure was about 11.9 thousand tons.
The total volume of supplies of other copolymers of propylene during the period under review was about 1.9 thousand tons against 2.2 thousand tons a year earlier.
