Today it became known about the decision of the American company Apple to start the release of its own devices only from secondary raw materials. Before that, Apple tried to identify the future co-founder of the company Steve Wozniak
Apple plans to become the first major company using only recycled metals and other minerals. This goal is set out in the company’s environmental responsibility report. Already today the company acquires secondary raw materials from third-party suppliers. It should also be emphasized that the company already has the Apple Renew program, in which customers can lease their old devices for recycling.
A plan for processing individual components has already been formed, the report says. To ensure the operation of this line, a special, 100% automatic robot Liam is created. At the moment, two similar pipelines have already been launched, which can disassemble up to 2.4 million devices per year. For example, the aluminum shells of the iPhone 6 are melted and used to create the Mac Mini. According to the tin, it is allowed to use other resources for processing, if the quality of the received product meets the company standards. But other metals, like tin, are planned to be used from other sources, if the quality of the final product is quite high.
They report that in the future they plan to produce the latest products from old Apple models.
