Iran plans over the next few years to put into operation six plants for production of polystyrene (PS) in the industrial park asaluyeh (Assalouyeh) in the south of the country, the director of the production control of the Iranian National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Ali Mohammad Bossakzadeh (Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh) news agency Shana.
In this first phase of the complex will be launched over the next few months.
In particular, it is planned that by the end of this year will launch two Entekhab Arman companies plant and Takht Jamshid Units, the construction of which is almost complete.
According to him, the other companies of the industrial park will be built in the next two years. At present, the company Sadaf plant has already been completed by 40%, Jam Petrochemical Company – by 30-35% and Dalahou – 60%.
As previously reported by the MRC, Iran plans to increase the production of petrochemical products to 61 million tonne by 2018. So, currently being implemented in the country 67 petrochemical projects to be commissioned in the beginning of 2018.
It was noted earlier that in October 2013, Iran decided to invest USD14 billion in oil and gas and petrochemical sectors of the economy. Funds for these investments to be allocated from the National Development Fund. Thus, Iran intends to partially offset the underfunding of the industry, which has been associated with international and unilateral sanctions against the country.
In particular, Iran announced the construction of a number of petrochemical plants in the industrial complex in Asaluye. Investments into the project are estimated at USD 1 billion (EUR780 million). Prospective enterprise third phase capacity expansion project in Asaluye will include a fourth plant for the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and purified terephthalic acid (PTA), the company for the production of dimethyl ether (DME) with a capacity of 800 thousand. At the same time in Iran are 53 petrochemical complex with a total production capacity of 59 million tons per year, which include the production of a number of polymers, chemicals, aromatics and LPG. These facilities are mainly located in southern Iran near the Persian Gulf, in the special economic zone and Asaluye Mahsharhr (Mahshahr).
