September contract price of ethylene in Europe was agreed at the level of August. Nevertheless, some European producers went on increasing the prices of low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE) for September supplies to the CIS countries, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Review.
Negotiations on the September supplies of polyethylene (PE) from Europe to the markets of the CIS countries started last week. Against the backdrop of the stability of ethylene prices, European producers mostly announced the prolongation of the August PE prices for the current month, except for the HDPE from individual producers, which increased in price by EUR10 per ton.
Negotiations for the September shipments of the HDPE were conducted in the range EUR1-100-1,165 per tonne, FCA, which in some cases is higher at EUR10 per tonne of the August price level. The export prices of the HDPE have been raised mainly by those producers whose capacities in August-September stop for preventive repairs. In connection with the stops of production, there are restrictions on the September shipment.
Prices of black PE100 remained unchanged, while the supply of the material increased. Transactions for September deliveries were discussed in the range EUR1,360 -1,415 per tonne, FCA.
Transactions for the September shipments of European high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) were agreed in the range EUR1 045-1,090 per tonne, FCA, which actually corresponds to the level of a month ago. There are no restrictions on the supply of LDPE.
