Prices of pipe grades of high density polyethylene (HDPE) in Europe last week showed mixed trend: some quotations remained unchanged, while others have fallen to the lowest level since the end of March 2015, he told ICIS.

Currently, the price of HDPE pipe fell below the mark of EUR1 300 per tonne FD NWE (North-East Europe) and as long as prices show the opposite trend to other types of polyethylene (PE) on the market in September.

Market sources said that the demand for the material in the current month has improved, but it happened, most likely due to low stocks of raw materials.

Processors have previously worked with the warehouses that have been accumulated as a result of an emergency situation on the market in 2015, when the shortage of material has led to the closure of production facilities.

According to the price review ICIS-MRC, the Russian market in the last week recorded a slight decline in market prices of PE pipe. Excess supply, low demand and high competition between the natural and colored HDPE have led to lower prices.
