Siam Cement Group (SCG) Plastics, which is part of one of Thailand’s largest companies, SCG, will close its low-pressure polyethylene pipe production in Map Ta Fut (Map Ta Phut, Thailand) in December for scheduled preventive measures, an ICIS source said familiar with the question.
According to the source, this line with a capacity of 200 thousand tons of HDPE per year will be closed for repairs within 8-10 days.
Earlier, it was reported that SCG Plastics stopped production at plant No. 4 for the production of low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE) in Map Ta Fut (Map Ta Phut, Thailand) from 7 to 21 February 2018 for scheduled preventive measures.
According to ScanPlast Company Market Report, in September, the total volume of HDPE production in Russia decreased to 79.2 thousand tons, whereas a month earlier the figure was 81.5 thousand tons. The main reason is a stop for the prevention of the largest manufacturer – Kazanorgsintez. In general, in the first nine months of the year, the total volume of HDPE production in the Russian Federation reached 731.7 thousand tons compared to 713.6 thousand tons a year earlier. Gazprom neftekhim Salavat and Stavrolen increased their output volumes, while Nizhnekamskneftekhim reduced the operating time almost twice in favor of linear polyethylene (LDL).
SCG Chemicals is a subsidiary of SCG and its three main activities are the production of chemicals, paper and cement building materials. SCG entered the petrochemical business in 1989. Currently, SCG Chemicals manufactures and markets a full range of petrochemical products, ranging from olefins, intermediate petrochemical products, such as styrene monomer and TPA, to petrochemical materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and polystyrene.
