The Scientific and Production Enterprise “POLYPLASTIC” has developed innovative products based on one of the most heat-resistant thermoplastics – polyphenylene sulfide. Presentation of the new products of the company – “Armotene” and “Thermoran” – will be the opening of the most significant Russian event in the world of plastics producers – “interplastica 2018”.
Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), on the basis of which brands were created, has already received world recognition as a material for the future. The group of superstructural PFCs is considered for excellent strength and ability to withstand high temperatures. According to experts, compositional “POLYPLASTIC”, the scope of application of the material and the volume of its consumption will expand every year. If today the demand for products based on innovative thermoplastic is not more than 15 thousand tons per year, then by 2022 the need for its introduction into the industry will increase to ten times.
The process of casting compounds on the PFC matrix is similar to the one based on polypropylene. A secondary processing does not impair the properties of superconstructive thermoplastics. The composition can be processed after several molding cycles before the melt flowability decreases noticeably and the physical properties deteriorate sharply.
In filling, in addition to the matrix, the compositions contain glass fibers or minerals in various proportions. Grades based on polyphenylene sulfide are distinguished by their high strength characteristics and superhardness. Such qualities allow the final product of the production chain to withstand large and long loads. For many components exposed to high loads and temperatures, polyphenylene sulfide is an excellent alternative to light metal alloys. The peculiarity of the materials on the PFC matrix is fire resistance, which makes it possible to use composite materials for casting parts for engine compartment, fuel ramps, pumps, household appliances (microwave ovens), electrical equipment (switches, plugs, microcircuits, etc.).
Indispensable materials based on polyphenylene sulfide were in the aerospace industry. They are used in the interiors of aircraft and spacecraft. Among the Russian thermoplastic companies, the Polyplastic Research and Production Company has become a pioneer in creating compositions based on polyphenylene sulfide. While such materials are purchased by domestic enterprises only abroad.
