France responded to the decision of Brussels, which resulted in all the countries – EU member states are obliged to make plastic bags paid in 2018, and gradually until 2025 to reduce their consumption by up to 40 units per person per year, informs resource “Belriteyl”.

A total ban on the use of plastic bags in France is dated January 1, 2017. Nevertheless, the French retailers were allowed to postpone for three months to prepare the paper bags and cloth bags, as well as to implement the remaining polyethylene warehouses.

This prohibition shall not affect the packets from a mixture of plastic and organic starch (potato or corn), and applies only to packaging products, entirely made of plastic. The present polymers comprise from 9 to 11% of all waste.

In 2016, France was also required to provide for the restaurants that sell more than 180 servings per day, for the rest of the food packages.
