Prices of polystyrene (PS) in Asia rose against the background of an increase in raw material prices of styrene, according to ICIS, citing market participants.

General purpose PS (MSS / M) prices on CFR China / Hong Kong terms increased by USD40-50 per tonne compared to the previous week to USD1 240-1 280 per tonne, while the impact resistant PS (UPS / M) rose by USD40 -50 per ton to USD1 310-1 350 per ton.

Spot prices of styrene rose by USD30-40 per ton, CFR NE (northeast Asia).

The offer of both MSS / M and UPS / M in China has decreased, as manufacturers have reduced their production load earlier due to low demand.

Earlier it was reported that last week negotiations on contract prices began on the European polystyrene (PS) market against the background of another three-digit reduction in raw material costs. Contract prices of styrene in December fell by EUR150 per tonne, falling to a two-year low of EUR990 per tonne.
