The level of recycling of used plastic containers in Ukraine is 8 times lower than the EU average. This is according to Eurostat.

EUROPE. According to the ministry, in 2016, 42% of all polymer bags and PET containers were recycled in the EU.

The best way to cope with this task is in Lithuania (74%), Slovenia (62%) and the Czech Republic (59%). Worst of all – in Finland and Estonia. It processes only 25% of discarded plastic containers.

Note that since 2005, the level of processing and recycling of “packaging” polymers in the EU countries has almost doubled (from 24%).

UKRAINE. According to the State Statistics Service, only 5% of plastic waste is recycled in our country.

BTW, on average, every Ukrainian leaves behind 270 kg of household waste per year.
