Players European market acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) have agreed on the original contract prices for February delivery on the EUR240-275 per ton higher than the previous month, against a background of increased production costs and good demand, sources told ICIS market.
The European market has never been faced with such a significant increase in raw material quotations at the beginning of the year, said one of the sources.
Consumers who usually buy the Asian material was advised to go to the European suppliers for the volumes, as shipments from Asia ABS is limited.
At the same time, the ABS market players in Europe are concerned that the styrene contract price for March delivery is once again increased, as European spot prices remain high.
According to the price review ICIS-MRC, the Russian market of plastic (nodes) raised the prices of ABS in early February. Players are also waiting for import volumes rising prices on the spot market in Russia after the sale of old stock.
