Now in Ukraine, only according to official data, under dumps almost 10 thousand hectares. In general, 7% of our territory is littered with various wastes. What to say, when garbage in Ukraine – this is already life-threatening. People were already dying in the dumps.

After extinguishing the fire under a multimeter avalanche of garbage at the Gribovetsky dump four rescuers were killed. And such huge environmental time bombs in Ukraine now dozens – almost every regional center, and hundreds more are smaller in the regions, and more than 5000 small ones. Experts have counted – 7% of the territory of our state – and this is the area of ​​the whole Denmark – littered with waste. Annually, Ukrainians throw out 15 million tons of garbage. Almost all of it rot, decompose and get into the soil, water and air. There are only one incineration plant in Kiev and 25 waste sorting lines operating in a multimillion country.

Sorting and re-use of household waste is not very popular among Ukrainians, although in the world millions make it. The government even approved a whole waste management strategy until 2030. The main idea is to prevent the formation of new wastes, sorting, processing, recycling and only what will remain is burying. From January 1, 2018, all Ukrainians should be littered, since the disposal of unprocessed wastes is prohibited. But so far it’s only on paper. But the paper itself, cardboard, plastic or glass, and then sort the units.

In the EU countries, sorting infrastructure is financed by producers who are required to collect the appropriate percentage of their packaging for disposal. Therefore, they open special centers, put containers under the houses, and reimburse the carriers for the preparation of their packaging. Then there are money in the market – and business is already interested in working in the field of sorting garbage.
