Multifunctional complex for processing of solid domestic waste in Dergachi (Kharkiv region) will become an example of non-waste production in the country and one of the best in Europe.

This in an interview with the media told the mayor of Kharkov, elected from the party Vidrodzhennya, Gennady Kernes.

– This is a multifunctional complex. Today there are no such projects in Ukraine. We have approached this very seriously. First, the scientific part of the issue was worked out, the scientific approach to collection and utilization. Because each region has its own morphology of garbage. We are interested in more organic, because organic gives another added value to the whole project. We analyzed very many, including European, recycling technologies, and as a result a large multi-functional environmentally friendly complex will be built on the territory of Kharkov region on forty hectares. The project will recultivate the old landfill, generate electricity at a green tariff, which will go to the energy market, – said Kernes, RBC reports.

According to the measure of Kharkov, the garbage recycling complex will allow Ukrainians to forget about the garbage collapse.

– This is an income item in the money-back project that was used to build the complex from the World Bank. But we are ready to pay extra from the budget in order to launch this project. It will radically change the situation in the city with garbage, and we guarantee that in the future Kharkov will pass through garbage collapse, “the politician stressed.

The total area of the garbage recycling complex will be 39 hectares. It will be built in two stages. According to the project, the complex plans to equip with gas piston and steam turbine installations for waste processing and power generation. In the future, it is planned to be sold in the energy market, and the money earned will go to repay the World Bank loan. The cost of construction of the waste processing complex is 1 billion 364 million hryvnia. It is planned to build it in 2.5 years.

As is known, Kernes was elected mayor of Kharkov from the party Vidrodzhennya on October 25, 2015 with a result of 65.8% of the vote. Today the Verkhovna Rada has established the parliamentary group Vidrodzhennya, its co-chairs are People’s Deputies Vitaly Homutynnik and Viktor Bondar.
