In Kalush there was a fire at the polyolefin production plant “Karpatneftekhim”
In Kalush, at the olefin plant LLC “Karpatneftekhim” engaged in the processing of petroleum products, there was a major fire. No casualties were reported.

According to an insider of the 24th channel, who cooperates with the chemical plant, there is no danger to the residents of the city and nearby communities. All emissions from combustion do not pose a threat to humans. This was confirmed by Kalush Mayor Igor Matviychuk.

The fire broke out in the compressor at 21:08, and then spread to the adjacent tanks. However, the fire safety systems worked automatically, which did not allow the flame to spread to other installations.

“The fire could have been threatening if the security systems had not worked. But everything is under control. There are actually independent fire systems: for supplying water, for example, there are three different supplies from different sides. The same with electricity: there are independent power sources. Therefore the whole system is designed to quickly localize the flame, “said the insider.

In addition, the expert assured that the fire can not spread to other installations that have flammable substances.

The likely cause of a large-scale fire is pipe damage. The expert noted that the equipment at the chemical plant is outdated, so the slightest depressurization could lead to a fire. Previously, production was closed for major repairs, but no significant changes occurred. In this case, olefins plant profits: all products are made from unnecessary residues of oil waste entering the enterprise. Therefore, production managers have the means to completely replace all devices, the insider assures.

As journalists reported earlier, Channel 24, on January 12, a fire broke out at an olefin plant in the city of Kalush. Employees of DSNS blocked the roads to the industrial area and began work to eliminate the fire.

18 vehicles arrived at the site of the emergency. In particular, rescue workers from neighboring cities – Galich, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dolina arrived to eliminate the consequences of the fire. Locals still see the glow from the fire and hear the buzz of burning. The expert argues that while firefighters can not extinguish the fire, as they must burn out all the substances that were contained in the barrels. Therefore, units using the fire monitors to cool the neighboring buildings.

While the network published terrible shots of the fire at the chemical plant Kalush, some of them – directly from the scene.
