According to the results of seven months of this year, the total volume of polypropylene imports to the Ukrainian market amounted to about 79 thousand tons, which is 7% more than in 2018. The increase in supplies fell solely on propylene homopolymers (PP-homo)

In July, the volume of polypropylene imports to Ukraine grew to 12.2 thousand tons against 10.2 thousand tons a month earlier, the main increase in supplies came from PP-homo from Russia. In general, in January – July 2019, the total volume of imports of propylene polymers reached 79 thousand tons against 74 thousand tons a year earlier. The main increase in imports came from PP-homo, while the demand for propylene copolymers decreased.

The supply structure by types of polypropylene for the period under review is as follows.

In July, external deliveries of propylene homopolymers to the Ukrainian market grew due to growth in supplies from Russia and amounted to about 9.3 thousand tons against 8.1 thousand tons a month earlier. For seven months, the total supply of PP-homo reached 61.4 thousand tons against 54.8 thousand tons a year earlier.

Last month, the indicator of external deliveries of propylene block copolymers (PP-block) amounted to about 1.1 thousand tons against 1 thousand tons in June. During the period under review, about 7.5 thousand tons of propylene block copolymers were imported, while a year earlier this figure was about 7.7 thousand tons.

In July, imports of propylene stat copolymers (PP-random) increased significantly and amounted to about 1.6 thousand tons compared to 1 thousand tons a month earlier, local companies went on a significant increase in purchases of pipe and injection PP-random. According to the results of January – July, the total volume of PP-random imports exceeded the level of 9 thousand tons, while a year earlier this figure was about 10.2 thousand tons.

The total supply of other propylene copolymers for the period under review amounted to about 1.1 thousand tons.
