According to the results of the first three months of the year, the total volume of polypropylene imports to the Ukrainian market amounted to about 31 thousand tons, which is 2% less than the same indicator in 2019. External supplies of virtually all types of propylene polymers decreased
In March, the volume of imports of polypropylene to Ukraine actually remained at the level of the previous month and amounted to about 10.5 thousand tons, local companies reduced the volume of purchases of propylene homopolymers (PP-homo) in favor of propylene copolymers. In general, in January – March of this year, the total volume of imports of propylene polymers reached 31 thousand tons against 31.5 thousand tons a year earlier. The supply of PP-homo remained at the level of last year, while the need for propylene copolymers decreased.
The supply structure by types of polypropylene for the period under review is as follows.
In March, external deliveries of propylene homopolymers to the Ukrainian market decreased due to a decrease in purchases of PP homo raffia in Russia, the total import volume was about 8 thousand tons against 8.7 thousand tons a month earlier. In January – March of this year, the total supply of PP-homo reached 24.5 thousand tons against 24.6 thousand tons a year earlier.
Last month, the indicator of external deliveries of propylene block copolymers (PP-block) amounted to a little more than 1 thousand tons compared to 736 tons in February, local companies increased their purchases of injection molded polypropylene. For the period under review, about 2.7 thousand tons of propylene block copolymers were imported compared to 2.9 thousand tons for the same period in 2019.
In March, imports of propylene stat copolymers (PP-random) grew to 1.3 thousand tons against 1 thousand tons a month earlier, local companies increased their purchases of pipe PP. According to the results of January – March of this year, the total volume of PP-random imports reached 3.4 thousand tons against 3.5 thousand tons a year earlier.
The total supply of other propylene copolymers for the period under review amounted to slightly more than 400 tons.
