The August contract price of propylene in Europe was agreed at the level of July. Against this background, European producers went on to preserve the July export prices of polypropylene (PP) for supplies to the markets of the CIS countries in August, according to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC.
Negotiations on the August level of prices of the European PP began last week, many market participants state that European producers have gone to maintain the July export prices of PP, despite the serious strengthening of the euro against the dollar. In most cases, most European manufacturers do not have export restrictions.
Transactions regarding the August supplies of propylene homopolymer (PP homo) were conducted in the range EUR1 000-1 075 per tonne, FCA, which in fact corresponds to the July price level. At the same time, it is worth noting that a part of the manufacturers after a week of negotiations went on reducing prices for EUR20-30 per ton in comparison with the initially announced price level.
Transactions regarding the supply of propylene block copolymers (PP block) were in the range EUR1 100 -1,150 per tonne, FCA. Negotiations on the August shipments of propylene-stat-copolymers (PP-random) were conducted within EUR1 150-1,220 per tonne, FCA.
