The growth in demand for engineering plastics with special properties for several years has been higher than in the bulk polymers, and this trend is likely to continue, according to a new market study.
The German company Ceresana conducted market research during which it was established that for 2015 it sold nearly 20.3 million tons of ABS, PC, PA, PMMA, POM, PBT, SAN-plastic and fluoropolymers.
Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene – the most popular engineering plastics, which occupies about 40% of total demand, while only in the Asia-Pacific region have been processed more than six million tons of this polymer.
