Project creator Dave Precious Plastic Hakkens announced the launch of new and improved versions of their home machines for recycling plastic waste. Devices designed so that to make them come the most basic tools and materials can be found anywhere, including the re-use of discarded household appliances, writes Greenhouse social technologies.

The project started as a master’s thesis at the Design Academy, which Hakkens was finishing in 2013. Then he learned about the problem with plastic recycling, existing in the Netherlands: in spite of the separate collection of waste and the presence of companies that are engaged in the processing of plastics, the percentage of re-use is low.

Hakkens invented a radically new approach – he decided to make a simple mechanism for primitive plastic processing. After collecting them in his garage, he showed the possibilities that give these makeshift devices – with their help it was possible to produce simple objects made of plastic.

The raw materials used Hakkens plastic waste – packaging, which remained in his house after consuming products. After receiving feedback and making conclusions, the designer-engineer spent two years trying to make a new version of their vehicles, they are now easier to establish, better to use.

Hakkens recently introduced phones on your site, laid out with a drawing course – video lessons, telling of polymers that are useful templates for future makers set of tips.
