Last Saturday, after a long break at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan, export trading in polypropylene (PP) produced by the Turkmenbashi refinery resumed. According to the results of one trading day, 1,000 tonnes of PP were sold at record high prices over the past two years, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Review.
According to bidders, on Saturday, February 20, at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan, 1,000 tons of raffia grade polypropylene produced by the Turkmenbashi refinery was exhibited for export. The starting price was set at USD1,050 per tonne, FOB / FCA. During the trades, the price of polypropylene grew dynamically and eventually reached USD1,515 per ton, FOB / FCA, the entire volume of PP was sold in one day.
The previous export auctions of PP produced by the Turkmenbashi refinery were held on December 8 and 9 last year, and then 5 thousand tons of raffia grade polypropylene were sold at prices of USD1 046-1 050 per ton, FOB / FCA.
It is also worth noting that in March 2020, export sales of polypropylene from the Kiyanlyn Polymer Plant ended at USD 750 per tonne, FOB / FCA.
