In the first six months of imports of PET in Russia fell three times

As previously reported, in January-may life terephthalate (PET) at the facilities of Russian enterprises grew by 12% to January-may of 2014 and amounted to 208 thousand tons.

Besides, this year falling demand in the market of finished products, which also contributes to increased consumption. Consumers of PET preforms reduce the production of finished products.

As previously reported, in January-may, the decline in production of beverages bottled in PET containers ranged from 7.4% to 22.4 percent depending on the industry, comparing with January-may 2014. The greatest decrease in percentage showed producers of mineral water, artificially mineralized. After five months of decline in production in the sector amounted to 22.4%.

In the structure of supply, the granulate takes the lion’s share. In January-June imports of PET-pellets amounted to 37.7 thousand tons, which is 3.3 times lower than the same period a year earlier. China remained the largest supplier to Russia. The volume of purchases amounted to 18.5 thousand tons, but in January-June 2014 this figure was reached 98 thousand tons. Among Asian import brands, the growth of supply was observed only at position Papet Cool Lotte Chemical industries (imports amounted 6,44 thousand tons, against 3,55 thousand tons a year earlier).

The imports of flax fell by 21% and amounted to 2.6 million tons. Also this year, the company increased purchases of amorphous PET.
