French petrochemical giant Total SA, the third manufacturer in Europe in terms of oil production, declared force majeure on deliveries of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and expandable polystyrene (EPS-C) with its complex Felyui (Feluy, Belgium) iz for the blocked access to it, according to ICIS referring to information from the company’s customers.

Buyers received a letter dated April 6, which stated that due to the strike of the regional freight companies, blocking the road in Belgium, the company can not make deliveries to Felyui since the beginning of the week.

Total does not comment on the situation, but it is its traditional policy.

PP production at Felyui capacity of 900 th. Tons per year is the largest in Europe.

As reported earlier MRC, Total Petrochemicals plans to soon close the production of PE and PP due to renovations cracker in Antwerp, Belgium.

Total operates primarily in the oil and gas markets, is the third largest oil producer in Europe, involved in five projects in Russia and owns 12% of Russia’s largest independent gas producer Novatek. Petrochemical products of the company includes base chemicals and polymers (polyethylene, polystyrene, polypropylene), which are made from them.
