The Pacific Ocean Garbage Collection Project – from the Great Garbage Spot – has successfully completed its first mission.
The organization delivered the first batch of collected plastic to land. Next, they are going to sort the garbage and put it into production of plastic products, the proceeds of which will be used to organize further missions to clean the ocean.

The first catch includes gigantic “ghost networks” and microplastics up to a millimeter in size. The company plans to start selling plastic products made from collected garbage, in September 2020.

“This is the first catch of plastic on land, we have been waiting for this moment for years. I believe that we can use this garbage to turn the problem into a solution, making a beautiful product out of the material received, ”said Boyan Slat, the founder of the project.

Ocean Cleanup emphasizes that money from the sale of products will go to further cleaning operations. The company is already working on a larger System 002 garbage collector. The system will be able to collect more garbage and keep it better.

As reported “Around the World Ukraine”, a large Pacific garbage spot began to be cleaned at the end of June. Then Boyan Slat announced on Twitter that the floating plastic collection device that had collapsed at the end of last year was sent back to the Great Pacific Garbage Spot after four months of repair.
