Hong Kong Petrochemical, a major Asian petrochemical producer, plans to resume production of polystyrene (PS) on March 29 after carrying out preventive works, ICIS reports with reference to a source in the company.
Repair activities at this plant to produce a substation located in the industrial zone of Yuen Long in Hong Kong, began in mid-March 2017.
The capacity of the Hong Kong Petrochemical plant is 140,000 tons of PS a year, of which 70,000 tons are accounted for the production of general-purpose polystyrene (PSD / M) and the same amount for the production of impact-resistant polystyrene (UPS / M).
As reported by the company MRC, earlier at this enterprise, prevention was carried out in February-March last year. The plant was stopped on February 17.
Another manufacturer of polystyrene in Hong Kong is Trinseo.
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC, the prices of Russian-made SS last week as a whole remained stable. The buyer activity in the market in Russia is very good. The increase in prices was observed only on the brands of polystyrene “Gazprom neftekhim Salavat”. Expectations of the same market players regarding future prices are different. According to one of the traders, the prices of Russian PS for April shipments will grow again against the background of good demand and prices of imported brands. At the same time, manufacturers are not yet commenting on prices for April, expecting new contract prices for styrene in the domestic market and in Europe.
Hong Kong Petrochemical was founded in 1988. The company produces polystyrene and sells it in Hong Kong and China.
