In Helsinki in Finland opened the first restaurant, where dishes are prepared from products intended to emit. It is reported portal Yle citing comments the head of institution Johanna Kohvakka. According to him, the restaurant has already signed agreements with two retail chains on the free supply of products that retailers do not have time to sell before the expiration date.
For shopping is a good way to get rid of unnecessary expenses. Otherwise, expired food products have to be delivered at his own expense to the plants for biofuel production. Therefore, the appearance of business partners who are ready to use food waste to the case, was a great help. Every year in the Finnish stores thrown about 12-14 kg of products per customer. The owners of the new restaurant are sure that most of these products are quite suitable for use.
According Kohvakka, the food at the new restaurant prepares a professional team of chefs, many of whom are migrants or long-term unemployed.
Authors of the project, which is called From Waste to Taste (literally “From the trash – on the table.” – Ed.) are confident that their business will not only solve the problem of the use of food waste, but also helps fight global warming. In the future, the restaurant business is planned to add mobile services, which will help to simplify the recycling of waste.
It is significant that of the funding of the project has provided the EU grant and 30 thousand. Euro managed to collect by crowdfunding.
