In the current conditions of deep and complex restructuring of industrial production around the world, the polymer industry faces new challenges, overcomes them, and at the same time opens up new prospects for development. Chinaplas 2021, Asia’s largest plastics and rubber processing trade show, has chosen a new motto “New Era – New Innovation for Sustainable Development”, which focuses on exploring business potential in the era of the coronavirus pandemic.

The COVID-19 epidemic has brought a lot of uncertainty to the global economy, and China is making active efforts to stabilize it. The domestic economy of the country is recovering rapidly. Its growth after the failure in the first half of the year allowed to increase the country’s GDP in the third quarter by 4.9%. It is expected that the PRC will be the only state with a large economy to show positive dynamics at the end of 2020. At the same time, China is striving to increase its level of openness to the world through the introduction of innovations and is developing a new concept of supporting domestic demand (the so-called double circulation strategy) in a situation of falling export volumes.

In February 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission, in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the PRC, published a joint report “Proposals to further strengthen the fight against plastic pollution.” This document proposes that the recyclability, ease of recycling and biodegradability of plastics be recognized as the main goals in the development of certain plastic products. The availability of recycling can be ensured not only through the innovation of equipment suppliers, but also through a certain effort by the manufacturers of plastic products, who must design them with in view of the mandatory subsequent recycling. Acting as a platform for the presentation of new ideas and technologies, as well as for the exchange of experience between participants of the entire production chain in the polymer industry, the Chinaplas 2021 exhibition will present various cases for the creation of such materials, products and options for their closed life cycle.

The key to China’s growth in domestic demand lies in technological know-how and new infrastructure. Chinaplas is held in China, but in fact has a strong impact on the entire Asia-Pacific region and the world in general. The next exhibition in 2021 will be held in Shenzhen, the city of innovation and creativity. Chinaplas adapts to a changing environment, responds quickly to new challenges and offers the most modern concepts for doing business in the industry.

The scale of Chinaplas 2021 is breathtaking. More than 3600 exhibitors have already confirmed their participation in it, pavilions of Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Switzerland, Great Britain, the USA and Taiwan will be presented. This breadth of exhibitors’ geography testifies to the complete confidence of industry companies in the excellent prospects for the plastics and rubber industries. Chinaplas will feature many promising ideas and practical solutions, including the latest global technologies and – along with them – Chinese know-how.

Chinaplas 2021 will be held from 13 to 16 April 2021 in 16 pavilions of the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, covering an area of 350 thousand m2.
