In the Zhytomyr region rescuers for the sixth day extinguish a fire at a dump in the tract Rzhatkovka near Novograd-Volynsky. According to the press service of the Department of Emergencies and Emergencies in Zhytomyr region, currently firefighters continue to extinguish garbage at the landfill of solid household waste in the territory of the tract Rzhatkovka Novograd-Volynsky area, which caught fire on individual outbreaks on June 16. “Dry, hot weather and wind contribute to burning and make it difficult to curb fire. Specialists of the State Service of Emergency Situations constantly pour smoldering, however, the combustion processes occur inside the landfill, which makes it impossible for the water to reach the combustion areas directly, ”the report says. In particular, yesterday from the morning, rescuers extinguished the burning of garbage on an area of ​​400 square meters. Considering that the object fire pond was used on the first day of ignition, water is supplied from a distance of about 2.5 km by two tank trucks, which were provided by the municipal enterprises of the Novograd-Volyn city council. In total, more than 30 water supplies were carried out during the day.

In addition, the fire extinguishing is complicated by the inability of the vehicles and the access of personnel to individual fire sites. Also yesterday in Novograd-Volynsky a working meeting was held with the participation of the city authorities, the Department of Emergencies and Emergencies in the region, representatives of the mayor’s office and the regional environmental inspection. In particular, the commission made a decision to update the local canal using a powerful motor-pump from Berdichev, which will allow to continuously supply water directly to the liquidation site. This morning, rescuers resumed their work to extinguish the fire.
