The head of Tatneftekhiminvest-Holding has predicted a grim fate for Tatarstan petrochemistry – Gazprom and Sibur squeeze the market

Rising prices for oil and petroleum products, fertilizers and polyethylene allowed petrochemists of Tatarstan to finish 2018 with an optimistic increase in production by 2.9%. Rafinat Yarullin regrets about frozen projects – KZSK and the production of laundry detergents, foresees a stagnation of the economy and a slowdown in investment activity. At the regular meeting of Tatneftekhiminvest-holding, BUSINESS Online, it found out details about the quality of the first lots of gasoline on TANECO.

TATARSTAN PETROCHEMISTS PAID 416 BILLION RUBLES OF TAXES

The general director of OAO Tatneftekhiminvest-holding Rafinat Yarullin at a meeting of the company’s board of directors boldly announced today that the petrochemical complex of the republic completed 2018 with growth.

The total output at the basic enterprises of the complex in 2018 increased by 2.9%, the output was 1.3 trillion rubles, which is 32% higher than the 2017 level. Over 416 billion rubles of tax payments have been paid to the budgets of all levels, of which 77 billion rubles have been paid to the consolidated budget of the Republic of Tajikistan. The output per employee at the enterprises of the complex grew by 3.4% and amounted to 19 million rubles.

This growth was facilitated by the recovery in prices for oil and oil products, nitrogen fertilizers, polyethylene, rising prices for polypropylene, polystyrene and carbon black. But at the minimum level are prices for natural rubber.

“This has increased the profitability of sales at Tatneft, Kazanorgsintez (KOS), Technical Carbon, Ammonium,” Yarullin was glad. At the same time, the decline in profits was recorded at Nizhnekamskneftekhim (NKNH) and Nefis Cosmetics. In the 2018 Russian ratings, Tatneft improved its position in terms of revenues and exports. TAIF-NK, Nefis rose in the lists in terms of sales volumes and revenues, while Nizhnekamskneftekhim and Kazanorgsintez for these indicators dropped below 2017 figures.

In 2018, there was an increase in oil production and refining, the production of rubbers and rubber tires, synthetic detergents. The maximum volumes of production of diesel fuel, kerosene, ammonium nitrate were achieved. KOS managed to increase the production of polycarbonates by 13% to 78 thousand tons. TANECO launched isomerization units – by 400 thousand tons (this is the largest production of the same kind in Russia), as well as hydrotreatment units for naphtha, kerosene, diesel fuel, and catalytic reforming units are at the testing stage.
