Last year, the total volume of imports of polypropylene to the Ukrainian market grew by 3% compared to the same period in 2016 and amounted to 123.1 thousand tons. The demand for homopolymer of propylene (PP-homo) grew most of all, according to DataCop.

In December, the volume of imports of polypropylene to Ukraine fell to 10.7 thousand tons against 11.9 thousand tons a month earlier, a decrease in supplies was noted in the segment PP-homo and the propylene copolymer (PP-Random). In general, for the whole of last year the total volume of imports of propylene polymers reached the level of 123.1 thousand tons against 119.6 thousand tons a year earlier. Demand for all types of propylene polymers increased, with the largest increase in PP-homo.

The structure of supplies by types of polypropylene for the period under consideration is as follows.

Last month, external deliveries of propylene homopolymers to the Ukrainian market dropped to 8.6 thousand tons against 9.2 thousand tons in November. The main reduction in deliveries was in PP-homo raffia from Saudi Arabia. For the full year 2017, total deliveries of PP homo reached 94.4 thousand tons, which is 4% more than a year earlier.

In December, the external supplies of propylene block copolymers (PP blocks) amounted to about 1,000 tonnes, which is 10% lower than a month earlier. On the part of local companies, the demand for propylene copolymers decreased. During the period under review, about 12.9 thousand tons of block copolymers of propylene were imported, while a year ago this figure was slightly more than 12.5 thousand tons.

Last month, imports of propylene stat copolymers dropped below 1 thousand tons against 1.5 thousand tons in November, demand for PP from the side of producers of pipes and injection molded products decreased. According to the results of the previous year, the total import of PP-Random reached 13.7 thousand tons, while a year earlier this figure was about 13.6 thousand tons.

The total volume of supplies of other copolymers of propylene during the period under review was about 2.1 thousand tons against 2.5 thousand tons a year earlier.
