In Odessa, plastic bags began to be processed, which pollute the environment every day, and in nature can be processed only for many hundreds of years.

According to statistics, every minute in the world one million people wrap something in polyethylene, and after 20 minutes it throws it away. At the same time in Europe, Japan and Switzerland plastic is converted to recyclable materials, but in Ukraine it accumulates in landfills, flies through fields and floats in rivers.

“About 200-300 kilograms of rubbish are thrown out every year by the Ukrainian, an average of 17 million tons of garbage, plus enterprises, of which 12% is plastic, it is like a tenth, but since it is very voluminous, we see it much more everywhere than other garbage, “- said the press secretary of the Ukrainian branch of the World Wide Fund for Nature, Ekaterina Kurakina.
Meanwhile, for the collection and transfer to processing of polyethylene, decided to take a network of Odessa dry cleaners, which intends to establish appropriate containers in each of its points of reception, in which Odessa citizens will be able to throw plastic.

“People react extremely positively, more actively than we expected, because from the first day people come, use eco-box, people bring polyethylene and it’s infinitely nice,” said Tatyana Kuznetsova, executive director of the dry cleaning chain.

According to her, when the containers are filled with plastic, it is sorted and sent for processing, which makes it impossible to get polyethylene into the environment.

“We have a warehouse, we all take it there.” We have a contract with an organization that re-enables them to be re-processed, into the same packages, probably. “There are organizations in every city that can easily process it. the owner of a network of dry-cleaners and the author of the project Alexander Kogan has declared.

Odessa residents were asked to carry packages without residues of food or fat, and boxes are fully filled in a day.
So far, there are 8 of them in the seaside city, but in the beginning of the year of their appearance it is worth waiting in all cities of Ukraine.
