Ukraine will be able to replace 600 million cubic meters of gas while processing 10 million tons of waste. At the same time, 3,500 thousand Gcal of thermal energy and 1170 million kW / h of electricity will be produced. This was stated by the chairman of the State Energy Efficiency Sergei Savchuk during a working visit to Denmark, the agency’s press service reported.

“Ukraine has an extremely high potential for using waste as energy raw materials.When processing 10 million tons of waste, Ukraine will be able to replace 600 million cubic meters of gas, while receiving 3,500,000 Gcal of thermal energy and 1170 million kW / h of electricity, Said Savchuk.

According to him, the State Energy Efficiency has developed a financial model of the plant for processing 350 thousand tons of garbage a year.

Savchuk also spoke about the improved legislative field for producers of “clean” energy, stressing that the “green” tariff for the production of electricity from biogas was raised to 12.4 euro cents per kWh. Now he is one of the highest in Europe. In addition, a stimulating tariff for heat from renewable energy sources has been introduced.

As a result of the visit, the parties agreed to continue cooperation and consider the possibility of attracting investments in the implementation of projects for the production of energy from waste in Ukraine.

Denmark is successful in producing energy from solid domestic waste. Therefore, the experience of this country is extremely useful for Ukraine, where issues of both diversification of energy sources and recycling of garbage are topical.
