Prices of polyethylene pipe (HDPE) in Asia may begin to rise, with increased ethylene quotations and expectations of demand growth, according to ICIS, citing sources in the market.
Prices of the main raw material – ethylene are on an uptrend. As a result, PND manufacturers have raised their offers for HDPE pipe grade and the overall grade HDPE.
It is expected that demand will improve as Chinese buyers returned to the market after the celebration of the Lunar New Year, as it is a typical demand growth period when the warming in March, will start the pipeline operation in China.
Price promotions on the HDPE pipe from the Middle East to other regions increased by USD100 per ton, compared to January levels.
As reported by the MRC before, prices of low pressure polyethylene pipe in Europe in February, rising behind the increase of raw material quotations – ethylene. The contract ethylene prices in Europe increased by EUR35 per tonne in February.
According to the price review ICIS-MRC, in the Russian market of HDPE pipe is marked oversupply, this factor led to a further reduction of prices on the market.
