The US Dow Chemical, the international petrochemical giant, announced a price increase in polyethylene (PE) at 4 cents per pound (about USD88 per tonne) for the Central American market, the Andean region and the Caribbean, told ICIS.
According to the letter of the company to its customers, which ICIS received on Monday, the Dow wants to raise the price of PE from 1 July.
The company did not provide any explanation of future price increases.
The manufacturers of polyethylene in Latin America is Pemex and Ethylene XXI-Braskem Idesa in Mexico, Dow Chemical Argentina, Braskem in Brazil, Ecopetrol (only high-density polyethylene – LDPE) in Colombia and Polinter (Venezuela).
