Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC), a leading Asian petrochemical company, announced a tender for the sale of a shipment of ethylene for shipment in the second half of October, ICIS sources told the market on Friday.

In particular, according to them, this batch of 5 thousand tons should be shipped on October 19-21 from the company’s site in Map Ta Phut, Thailand.

Applications for the tender are accepted until September 24, inclusive, sources said.

Earlier it was noted that on Tuesday the company announced a tender for a batch of ethylene with a volume of 3.5 thousand tons with shipping on October 7-11. The tender was closed on September 20, and this party was sold on the same day at a floating price, sources said.

As reported by MRC, the PTTGC stopped production on September 1 of cracking unit No. 1 in Maput Ta Futa for preventive measures. It is expected that the repair work at this enterprise with a capacity of 461 thousand tons of ethylene and 125 thousand tons of propylene per year will continue for 30 days.

Ethylene is the main raw material component for the production of polyethylene (PE).

According to the survey of ScanPlast of MRC, in Russia, according to the results of the first seven months of the year, the estimated consumption of PE was 1 148.11 thousand tons, which is 9% more than the same indicator a year earlier. The supplies for all types of polyethylene have grown.

PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) was founded on October 19, 2011 after the merger of PTT Chemical Company and PTT Aromatics and Refining Company to become the flagship of the PTT chemical group. As a result of the integration, the total capacity of the company for the production of olefins and aromatics reached 8.2 million tons per year, and oil products – 280,000 barrels per day, making it the largest integrated petrochemical and refinery company not only in Thailand but also in Asia.
