Scientists of one of the Russian scientific institutes will soon present a new development – plastic windows that produce electricity.

Employees of the School of Natural Sciences of the Far Eastern Federal University will soon present an innovative development to the window market – energy-generating plastic windows that will replace solar batteries. We are talking about a special polymer luminescent coating in the form of a film, which is applied to a glass unit, and is a light concentrator. Such a film will transform the sun’s rays into electricity, which allows the operation of various household appliances.

From the known solar batteries, the development of scientists from the Far Eastern University is distinguished, first of all, by a high efficiency index for scattered sun rays, while batteries are effective only in the active sun, direct sunlight on them. In addition, solar panels require a rather large installation area, and are most effective on the roofs of the building, which practically excludes their use for apartment owners in multi-apartment buildings.

The energy-generating film applied to the glass packet of the plastic window (www.okna-ekvator.ru/kottedji.html) is optimal for use in urban apartments. Also, developers promise its lower price in comparison with expensive solar panels. The technology has already passed a number of tests and proved to be effective, at the present time, scientists are working towards increasing its energy-generating properties, optimizing for widespread use as an alternative to solar batteries. Developers of innovation for the window industry do not yet specify the range of prices for energy-generating coating for plastic windows, and do not specify how much power will be generated electricity. All the nuances will be presented with the conclusion of an innovative solution to the market.

Against the backdrop of growing electricity tariffs, residents of megacities are trying to save on an expensive resource as much as possible, and scientists all over the world are striving to develop and implement green building technologies, which also include alternative energy sources. The issue of environmental protection is also topical, where the above mentioned technologies also play an important role.

Energy-generating windows – an affordable alternative to solar panels

Solar batteries, widely used in many developed countries, and only gaining popularity in Russia, are suitable only for owners of suburban real estate, or for owners of industrial premises.

Energy-generating plastic windows equipped with an innovative film will be an excellent alternative to solar panels, and the possibility of using them in multi-apartment buildings will save millions of Russians energy.
