Tomskneftekhim (TNKK), a subsidiary of SIBUR and one of the largest Russian producers of polymers – polypropylene (PP) and high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE), has launched a new type of polyethylene for laminating packages, Vtomske reports.

Earlier this polyethylene brand was imported to our country from abroad, the director of the enterprise Maxim Rogov told the journalists.

Earlier it was reported that modernization of the polypropylene and polyethylene production lines worth 11 billion rubles was completed at Tomskneftekhim. It was expected that this would allow the production of modern polyethylene grades for various sectors of the economy, including within the framework of import substitution.

“Thanks to the reconstruction, we had the opportunity to produce new modern types of polymers, in particular, a polyethylene brand for laminating packaging products.” In the past, basically two basic grades of polyethylene were produced, which went to a wide market segment. “Our processing colleagues also do not stand still, a huge number of films with different properties.And for each type of film you need your own brand of polyethylene, “said M. Rogov.

According to him, we are talking about the polyethylene brand, which is used for laminating food packages, first of all, tetrapacks.

“We released a pilot lot, tested it from the client, received from him wishes for properties and are preparing to make the first issue,” the head of the enterprise said. However, he did not specify the name of the consumer company of the new products.

Maxim Rogov explained that there is no concrete date for launching a full-scale production of a new polyethylene grade for tetrapak – it all depends on the demand in the market. At the same time he added that today Tomskneftekhim has an opportunity to produce about 20 new brands of polyethylene.
