The October contract price of ethylene in Europe was agreed at EUR15 per tonne higher than in September. However, not all European manufacturers of polyethylene (PE) went to higher export prices, according to a price review ICIS-MRC.
Negotiations on the European export prices of PE began this week, many market participants have concluded that in most cases the export polyethylene prices have been maintained at the level of September. At the same time the individual items marked as price increase and decrease.
Transactions at the October shipment of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) are in the range of EUR1 090-1 180 per tonne, FCA, while the previous month deals were in the range of EUR1 090-1 160 per tonne, FCA. Negotiations on the supply pipe of black PE100 are carried out in the range of 170- 1220 EUR1 per tonne FCA, while in September, deals were in the range of 220- 1270 EUR1 per tonne FCA.
Transactions with respect to the October shipments of high-density polyethylene (LDPE) are discussed in the range of EUR1 190 – 1 250 per tonne, FCA, which actually corresponds to the September level of prices.
According to many market participants, export quotas for European manufacturers are still limited, including stops due to preventive maintenance. Currently limited supply from producers from Hungary, Serbia and the Czech Republic.
