European styrene prices continue to rise, ICIS reports, citing market participants.
The supply of styrene on the market is balanced.
The forecast for March, April and May is more optimistic against the background of the planned repair work at the European enterprises for the production of styrene and benzene.
This week, March prices were in the range of USD995-1 015 per ton, while the supply gradually decreased during the week from USD1035 per ton to USD1000 per ton.
Styrene is the main raw material component for the production of polystyrene (PS).
The estimated consumption of PS and styrene plastics in Russia amounted to 512.16 thousand tons in 2018, which is 2% more than the consumption figure of the previous year. At the same time, the estimated consumption of PS and styrene plastics in December last year increased by 10% compared with December 2017 and amounted to 46.12 thousand tons.
