The market for low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE) in Europe remains stable and demonstrates good demand, following the general trend in the European market, ICIS reports citing sources in the market.

In general, purchases in the European PE market were slowed down and carried out only on the basis of existing orders, while in the pipe sector the strengthened European economy supports demand.

Prices for tubular HDPE in Europe increased in October in proportion to the growth of the main raw material – ethylene. The October contract price of ethylene in Europe was agreed at EUR30 per tonne higher than the level of September.

Earlier it was reported that deals for October shipment of low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE) were discussed in the range of EUR1 050-1,110 per tonne, FCA, while the September deals were in the range EUR1,020-1,070 per tonne, FCA. Transactions for shipment of black PE 100 were in the range EUR1 250-1 270 per tonne, FCA.

According to the survey by ScanPlast of the company MRC, by the end of nine months the release of low-density polyethylene (HDPE) in Russia decreased by 7.2% compared to the same period of 2016 and amounted to 714.2 thousand tons. The production volumes of Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat and Nizhnekamskneftekhim were reduced.
