The latest data of China’s General Administration of Customs showed that the country imported 197.807 tons of propylene in August, the drop was 13.6% compared with the previous year.
Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry also expects that the balance of propylene in Asia will turn into a surplus of 99,000 tonnes in 2015, compared with a deficit of 813.000 tons in 2014.
China has accelerated its plans to build new plants propane. Since 2013, two plants were built and put into operation in 2015. Their total production capacity of 1.41 million tons per year. In 2014, three plants were launched. They have a combined production capacity to produce 1.5 million tons per year of propylene.
“The current price of propylene – a catastrophe”, – said the source of trade in Asia. As a result, some manufacturers have decided to reduce the propylene exploitable quantities of plants.
