Negotiations on the January prices of low-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) pipe grades began in the European market at the end of last week, as players began to return to the market after the holidays, ICIS sources told the market.
At the same time, material prices in January are unlikely to be increased.
Demand remains good, despite the current season, and the supply of material on the market in places is balanced, and in some places is limited.
In December of the same year, pipe HDI quotes rose, despite the prolongation of prices in other sectors of the polyethylene (PE) market.
In the European market of tubular HDPE, there was no impulse for price increases, as in the general PE market, price harmonization is mainly carried out at previous levels.
In other segments of the HDPE market, the stock of material is at a high level, which makes it difficult for sellers to raise prices, but the growing gap between prices in Asia and Europe could lead to a revision of quotations in the first quarter, market sources said.
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC, in the Russian market of the HDPE last week there was a rise in prices, in particular, the blowing PE (273-83) of Kazanorgsintez went up. The Kazan producer raised contract prices for deliveries in January by 2 thousand rubles. per ton in comparison with the level of December. In other segments, other manufacturers also left their contract prices for January supplies at the December level.
