In Belgium, 96% of the weight of each old car is recycled, which is higher than the common goal set by the European Union to achieve the processing of 95% of the weight of the vehicle, reports SWI.

The recycling of used cars in the country involved 123 centers, which also recycle TVs and household appliances. Annually in Belgium, recycle about 106 thousand cars.

The process is carried out in several stages. First, the car is freed from the most polluting materials – fuel residues, oil, brake fluid, antifreeze. After that, everything that can be used again is dismantled from it and sold to auto repair shops and private individuals.
