Ukraine last week suspended sanctions against the Austrian Borealis, introduced in April, until September this year, according to the website of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

A major Austrian petrochemical company, Borealis AG, was penalized by the Ukrainian authorities on May 21, 2017. Decree number 547 on the limitation of supply of the company’s products was signed on April 11, 2017. In this case, the sanctions were suspended from June 9, 2017 until September 15, 2017.

Decree No. 547 states that in addition to Borealis, the subsidiary of Exxon Mobil, Exxon Mobil France, was also sanctioned. Deliveries of the products of these companies were banned due to “actions that could damage the economic interests of Ukraine.” According to unofficial data, the companies supplied their products to the conflict in Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine.
